Behind the Kit: A Weekend with All About Everything

A couple of weekends ago, I found myself in my favourite place in the world—behind the drum kit, locked in with the pulse of All About Everything. The crowd was electric, the stage was ours, and for those few hours, nothing else mattered.
From the first downbeat, I could feel the energy bouncing off the walls. Every snare hit, every cymbal crash, every groove we laid down—it wasn’t just music, it was a conversation with the audience. They shouted back with cheers, danced with abandon, and gave us everything we needed to push harder, play tighter, and leave it all out there.
One of the things that keeps me fully immersed in the moment is my gear. I rely on my Shure 535 IEMs paired with the XVive U4 wireless system to stay completely connected to my bandmates. It’s not just about clarity—it’s about control. With those in-ears, I can hear every nuance without battling the chaos of a noisy stage. It’s a game-changer for performance and a lifesaver for my hearing.
A huge shoutout to Darren, who DJ’d and played an absolute blinder of a set—his energy kept the vibe rolling long after our last note. And massive thanks to Daventry Football Club for hosting us and making us feel so welcome. It’s a cracking venue with a brilliant team behind it, and we couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere.
There’s something magical about being part of a band that’s more than just a group of musicians. We’re a unit. A family. And when we’re firing on all cylinders, it’s like riding a wave you never want to end. That weekend reminded me why we do this—why the late-night load-ins, the endless rehearsals, and the social media hustle are all worth it.
I saw faces I recognised, new ones I didn’t, and even a few folks singing along to our originals. That’s the dream, isn’t it? To create something that sticks. That lives beyond the gig.
If you were there—thank you. If you missed it, don’t worry. We’re just getting started.
